Frances Awcock has had senior management experience and was the CEO and State Librarian of the State Library of Victoria, the Director of the State Library of South Australia for 6 years (the only person to have led two State Libraries) and the Executive Director of the National Book Council. She has worked extensively in the library sector and has published a number of articles and book reviews. In 2004 she was awarded the AM in 2004 for service to librarianship and to the community, particularly through redevelopment projects for the state libraries of Victoria and South Australia, the application of new technology and information systems, and the promotion of library and information services
